Creating Consistent AI Art Styles Across a Project
Consistency is the hard part of AI art. These are the techniques I use to keep a visual language stable across many generations. Generating one good AI image is easy. Generating twenty images that look like they belong to the same project is hard. Consistency is what separates AI art that ships from AI art that sits in a folder. After building illustration sets for products and editorial series, I have a set of techniques that keep a visual language stable across many generations. Fix the Style, Vary the Subject The core technique is to hold the style description constant across every prompt and vary only the subject. I write the style portion of the prompt once, save it, and paste it into every generation unchanged. The style portion includes the medium, the color palette, the lighting, and a reference artist or movement. With this fixed, changing only the subject produces images that share a clear visual treatment. For example, a style block I used for a recent editorial series was flat vector illustration, two-tone palette of navy and cream, soft grain texture, minimal linework, inspired by 1960s travel posters. Every prompt in the series started with a different subject but ended with that exact style block. The resulting images hung together as a set, which would not have happened if I had rephrased the style for each generation.
